AUDIO-VISUAL CRITIQUES

Entries will receive audio visual critiques and scoring from EACH of our 3 judges. Each studio will be able to view critiques and scoring online within one week after Open Call’s final awards ceremony.

SCORING BREAKDOWN

Open Call has recently reset their scoring to reflect feedback from studios seeking more in-depth information about their performances. This wider range allows judges to score with deeper difference between elements while still giving the medal that they feel the routine has earned. Thank you, studio owners, for your feedback, and your interest in seeking quality dance competitions for your dancers!

GENERAL AWARDS

Placement Awards:

In addition to the adjudicated awards, if there are three or more entries in a category, a competitive, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place will be announced in each age division and category.

Adjudicated Awards:

The Black Diamond medal will only be given in the Company level. The judges reserve the right to bump an entry to the higher level.

High Score Awards:

Once each age division and category division have been completed there will be an announcement of the overall high scoring top 5 routines from each age division; Petite, Junior, Pre-Teen, Teen, & Senior

ie. Junior top 5 routines from:
1. Solo • 2. Duo/Trio • 3. Small Group/ Large Group • 4. Production/Line

Overall High Score Awards:

We will announce Open Call’s Overall High Score for both 12 & Under and 13 & Older. Overall High Scores are divided up between Solo/ Duo/ & Trios and Groups/ Lines/ & Productions. These awards will be announced at each relevant awards ceremony.

MEDAL SCORING CRITERIA:

BLACK DIAMOND: Score: 270 – 300

Elite-level performance. Exceptional technique, originality, and stage presence. Reserved for the most outstanding routines.

DIAMOND: Score: 240 – 269.99

Near-elite performance with excellent execution and artistry. Highly polished with minor areas for improvement.

HIGH GOLD: Score: 210 – 239.99

Strong and confident performance with consistent technique and great stage presence.

GOLD: Score: 180 – 209.99

Solid work with clear effort and performance quality. Developing refinement and control.

HIGH SILVER: Score: 130 – 179.99

Promising performance with moments of clarity and artistry. Growth evident.

SILVER: Score: 110 – 129.99

Foundational performance. Performer building consistency and confidence.
